Requirement plan for fuelling infrastructure for electric vehicles on federal highways

The Federal Highway Research Institute of Germany (BASt) has instructed PLANET on behalf of the federal ministry of transport and digital infrastructure (BMVI) to develop a “requirement plan for fuelling infrastructure for electric vehicles on federal highways”.

Battery electric vehicles (BEV) as well as Plug-In Hybrid vehicles (PHEV) and Fuel cell vehicles (FCEV) have been examined. Based on the expected development of these technologies in Germany and their technical constraints like range and refuelling time as well as typical mobility schemes and local energy supply, and the already existing fuelling infrastructure a plan was created showing possibilities for a gradual establishment of both, hydrogen refuelling and fast charging infrastructure, until the year 2030.

The gradual development plan was discussed in steering committee sessions and a final presentation was given in October 2014. It is expected that the study will be published beginning next year.
